Nidan, American-Te; Practitioner Level 2, Kyusho International; Kyusho-Jutsu Kokusai Shihankai 急所術国際師範會 - 2nd Degree Black Belt

Brian started at a very young age with greco roman wrestling in a boys club in Chattanooga, TN. Shortly after, he studied Taekwondo under Grandmaster Chu in Chattanooga, TN, achieving the rank of brown before moving to IL.  For many years after, Brian studied various arts including Bando and Silat.  After moving to MA, Brian renewed his commitment to continuing martial arts and joined Excel Karate.  There he studied a myriad of different styles and techniques under the tutelage of Shihan Cody Robyn, Shihan John Hagman, Shihan Mike Hebert, Shihan Marshall Wolff, Shihan Vincent Guerini as well as Shihan Evan Pantazi.

He has attained the rank of Sandan (3rd degree black) in American Te, Practitioner Level 2 in Kyusho International, as well as Kyusho-Jutsu Kokusai Shihankai 急所術国際師範會 – 2nd Degree Black Belt.

Shotokan Karate

Shotokan focuses on deep stances and powerful strikes. Generally when someone thinks of “Karate” they are thinking of this art. Students will learn to use their body to produce forceful punches and kicks, as well as effective blocks.

Sensei Brian studied these techniques under the watchful eye of Shihan Cody Robyn, Shihan John Hagman, Shihan Mike Hebert, Shihan Marshal Wolff and Shihan Vincen Guerini. These masters practiced these techniques with Shihan Steve Shatvet who trained under Donald Murnane.

Kenpo Karate

Kenpo focuses on more relaxed stances and smoother more circular movements. Students will learn how to remain relaxed while still delivering powerful strikes.

Sensei Brian studied these techniques under the watchful eye of Shihan Cody Robyn, Shihan John Hagman, Shihan Mike Hebert, Shihan Marshal Wolff and Shihan Vincen Guerini, all of whom studied directly or indirectly under Professor Nick Cerio.

Small Circle Jujitsu

Small Circle Jujitsu is the art of controlling and locking joints in the attacker.  A skilled practitioner can go all the way from controlling a person with little pain, all the way to destroying joints in emergency situations.

Sensei Brian studied these techniques under the watchful eye of Shihan Cody Robyn, Shihan John Hagman, Shihan Mike Hebert, Shihan Marshal Wolff and Shihan Vincen Guerini. Those master practitioners trained with Shihan Evan Pantazi and a variety of instructors who trained directly or indirectly with Professor Wally Jay and other high-level Jujitsu practitioners.

Kyusho Jitsu

Founded by Shihan Evan Pantazi, Kyusho International™ is the leading institution for training in the art of pressure point striking and manipulation. Students will learn techniques to aid in the debilitation of attackers using effective strike locations.

Sensei Brian achieved the rank of Nidan in Kyusho-Jutsu Kokusai Shihankai studying directly under Shihan Evan, as well as Shihan Cody Robyn, Shihan John Hagman, Shihan Mike Hebert, Shihan Marshal Wolff, and Shihan Vincent Guerini. Sensei Brian is the only Level 2 Certifying Instructor of Kyusho in California.

Brazillian Jujitsu

Brazillian Jujitsu focuses largely on joint locks and submission/control techniques against opponents on the ground.  Students will learn how to escape holds and locks, as well as perform them on the ground in the event they are taken down.

Sensei Brian studied this art as part of the curriculum at Excel Karate.

Boxing

Boxing brings valuable skills that promote quick hands, agile footwork, and effective shielding. Students will learn common punching combinations as well as shielding techniques.

Kali Escrima Stick Fighting

Escrima stick fighting brings quick hands and agile feet.  With or without sticks, students will learn to strike in rapid succession with both hands, as well as gain valuable footwork skills to manage their range to their opponent.

Tai Chi

Tai Chi focuses on being grounded, and using the entire body in its movements.  Students will learn to remain centered and focus their energy.

Sensei Brian studied this art with Shihan Cody Robyn, Shihan John Hagman and Sifu Dave Bilyeu.
